VietnamTripper was built by four friends from Christchurch, New Zealand — Glenn, David, David and Tom — who took a 12-day golf trip to Vietnam in May 2026 and decided their honest, unfiltered take on it was worth writing down. This site is that journey: five golf courses, three cities, and a running commentary on what things actually cost, what's worth doing, and what we'd skip next time.

We're not travel writers and we're not being paid to say nice things. We're four blokes who play golf badly, argue about restaurant bills, and figured other Kiwis planning a similar trip would rather hear it straight from us than from a glossy brochure.
VietnamTripper is written for New Zealanders who want to know what Vietnam is actually like — not what a tourism brochure says it's like. If you're any of the following, this site is built for you:
We pay attention to the things that matter to ordinary New Zealand travellers, not to golf journalists. What things actually cost in NZD. Whether a hotel room was worth what we paid for it. What the course conditions were really like, not what the marketing says. How hard it is to actually get there and book a tee time from New Zealand. The quality of the caddies. Whether the food was good or just expensive. And, at the end of it, whether we'd genuinely go back and play it again.
Every photo on this site is one of ours — no stock imagery, nothing borrowed. If we rated something poorly, it's because we didn't enjoy it, not because we're chasing clicks.
She'll be right, just do it — caddie / player translator.
Glenn has played golf most of his life. He qualified for the 2000 US Amateur, played in multiple New Zealand Amateur tournaments, and represented Christchurch Golf Club in the Woodward Cup. He's a past Club Captain and Board Member of Christchurch Golf Club, and a 30-year past member of Christchurch vs Otago — the oldest continuous golf interclub outside the UK, dating back to 1873. He co-founded the New Zealand Hickory Championship alongside Sir Bob Charles and Stu Upton, and has won the Ralph Beadle Memorial Salver (with Tom Music), the Page Trophy and the Wood Trowel. He currently runs NewZealandAtoZ.com.
